Psychosexual Therapy in East Oxford

Fully Accredited UKCP Psychotherapist | Specialist Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist

Sexuality, physical intimacy, and the body sit at the very core of human experience. Yet, when difficulties arise in these areas—whether through shifts in desire, physical discomfort, performance pressure, or complex feelings around fantasy and preference—they are often met with isolation or silence.

Therapy offers space to consider the whole person: how emotional safety, somatic experience, personal history, and relational dynamics interact with your sexual life—helping individuals and partners find relief from sexual distress by understanding what sits beneath it.

I offer in-person psychosexual therapy from my practice in East Oxford for individuals, couples, and polycules.

How I Work

My work integrates body-focused awareness with an exploration of emotional and relational dynamics.

Sexuality and intimacy do not exist in isolation. Whether you are navigating physical difficulties with your body or carrying difficult feelings around your desires, therapy provides a quiet, non-judgmental space to understand your responses at your own pace.

In our sessions, we look at what sits beneath these experiences:

  • Somatic Expression & Performance Pressure: How physical symptoms—such as changes in arousal, pelvic tightness, difficulty reaching orgasm (anorgasmia or delayed climax), pain during intimacy (vaginismus or dyspareunia), or erectile difficulty—often reflect underlying stress. When intimacy feels like a test of "achieving a result," anxiety rises, causing the body to protect itself through physical tension or avoidance.

  • Fantasy, Desire & the Internal World: Exploring fantasies, kinks, or sexual thoughts that feel confusing, conflicting, or difficult to talk about. Many people carry significant internal isolation regarding their desires; our work offers a space to process these thoughts free from judgment or pathologization.

  • Personal History & Identity: How your unique upbringing, personal values, cultural context, attachment style, and relationship with your body shape your capacity for pleasure, safety, and self-expression.

By stepping back from performance pressure and internal judgment, it becomes possible to restore ease, agency, and genuine connection.

Areas of Work

My practice welcomes a broad range of sexual experiences, concerns, and identities:

  • Somatic & Functional Difficulties: Supporting clients navigating changes in arousal, difficulty reaching orgasm (anorgasmia or delayed climax), pain or discomfort during intercourse (including vaginismus or dyspareunia), pelvic tension, rapid climax (premature ejaculation), erectile difficulty, or medication-induced changes to sexual functioning (e.g., SSRIs or hormonal treatments).

  • Kink, BDSM & Alternative Expressions: An open, knowledgeable space for individuals and partners exploring non-normative desires, kink dynamics, power exchange, or diverse sexual preferences without fear of judgment.

  • Complex Feelings & Unspoken Desires: Working through internal conflict, anxiety, or secrecy surrounding fantasies, masturbation, sexual orientation, or personal desires.

  • Desire Discrepancies & Relational Intimacy: Navigating differences in sexual appetite, situational avoidance of physical touch, or changing patterns of intimacy within relationships.

  • Bodily Disconnection & Sexual Trauma: Processing the ongoing physical and emotional impact of past boundary violations, medical interventions, or traumatic experiences in a safe, contained environment.

If you are seeking a space to explore sexual identity, relational patterns, or personal history without a primary focus on physical symptoms, these topics can also be explored within Individual Psychotherapy or Relational Therapy.

Individual & Partner Formats

Psychosexual concerns can be explored as an individual or together with a partner:

  • For Individuals: Individual therapy offers a dedicated space to explore your personal relationship with your body, desire, or history at your own pace.

  • For Couples & Partners: When physical or sexual difficulties occur within a relationship, they rarely belong to one person alone. Working together allows partners to share responsibility for the intimacy they are building and address the dynamic as a team.

What to Expect & Practical Details

Beginning psychosexual therapy requires trust and sensitivity. I maintain a clear, predictable setup so you know what to expect from the outset.

The Initial Consultation

We begin with a single 50-minute consultation. This session gives us space to talk through what brings you to therapy, explore your background, and determine if my approach is the right fit. There is no obligation or expectation to commit to further work at this stage.

Session Structure

If we decide to move forward, sessions take place in my East Oxford consulting room. Having a regular weekly appointment provides practical stability:

  • Continuity: Weekly sessions keep the focus on underlying patterns rather than spending your time simply reporting on the past week's events.

  • A Contained Boundary: A dedicated weekly space allows you to process sensitive topics safely, without carrying those worries continuously through your daily life.

Fees

  • Individual Psychosexual Therapy: £83 per 50-minute session

  • Couples & Partner Psychosexual Therapy (Couples & Polycules): £122 per 50-minute session

Initial consultations are charged at the standard session rate (£83 individual / £122 relational).

Clinical Background & Accreditation

My practice is built on specialist clinical training, rigorous academic study, and ongoing contribution to the field.

  • Tavistock Relationships (London): Two-year specialist postgraduate clinical training in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, working with complex somatic, relational, and sexual presentations.

  • University of Oxford: Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Practice, following four years of clinical training and research focusing on relational dynamics, unconscious processes, and psychological development.

  • Academic Teaching: Guest Lecturer at the University of Oxford, teaching psychodynamic theory and clinical practice.

  • Professional Accreditation: Fully Accredited Registered Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work strictly within the UKCP Ethical Framework to guarantee professional containment, clinical supervision, and absolute confidentiality.

An Inclusive, Affirming Practice

My practice is fully affirming of all relationship structures, sexualities, and gender identities, working with individuals, couples, polycules, and LGBTQIA+ clients.

As part of this commitment, I strive to maintain an actively anti-racist practice—recognizing how systemic oppression, cultural marginalization, and racialized trauma shape our sense of safety, identity, and bodily experience.
