Individual Psychotherapy in East Oxford
Fully Accredited UKCP Psychotherapist | Master’s Degree (University of Oxford)
The difficulties we experience in personal life, intimate relationships, and emotional wellbeing are almost always rooted in deeper, recurring patterns—ways of protecting ourselves, managing distress, or relating to others that were once necessary, but have become constricting over time.
Psychotherapy provides a disciplined, confidential space to examine these dynamics with nuance—helping you find relief from distressing symptoms by understanding what sits beneath them.
I offer in-person individual psychotherapy from my practice in East Oxford.
How I Work
My approach is psychodynamic and body-aware, drawing on rigorous clinical training at the University of Oxford and Tavistock Relationships.
We work together to build a clearer understanding of your internal world, examining how past relational experiences, unconscious defenses, and bodily responses shape your present reality.
In our sessions, we explore:
Underlying Emotional Patterns: Understanding the root causes of recurring anxiety, depression, low self-worth, or emotional exhaustion, helping you find relief from distressing symptoms by examining what sits beneath them.
Relational History & Attachment: Examining how early relationships and life experiences continue to influence your current interpersonal dynamics, choices, and sense of safety.
Somatic & Bodily Responses: Noticing how emotional stress and unexpressed tension manifest physically in the body.
Identity & Internal Conflict: Processing complex feelings around life transitions, self-concept, personal agency, or conflicting internal desires in an environment free from judgment.
If your difficulties specifically concern physical intimacy, desire, arousal, or sexual identity, I also offer dedicated Psychosexual Therapy for individuals and partners.
Areas of Focus
My individual practice supports clients navigating a broad range of psychological concerns, including:
Anxiety, Stress & Overwhelm: Persistent worry, panic, hypervigilance, or feelings of chronic tension.
Low Mood & Emotional Numbness: Feelings of depression, loss of meaning, emptiness, or difficulty accessing emotion.
Relational & Interpersonal Difficulties: Recurring patterns of conflict, fear of intimacy, boundary difficulties, or abandonment anxiety.
Identity, Self-Worth & Life Transitions: Navigating major personal shifts, professional stress, existential questions, or complex feelings surrounding self-worth.
Unresolved Past Experience & Trauma: Processing the ongoing impact of difficult early environments, relational rupture, or developmental trauma.
What to Expect & Practical Details
Beginning individual therapy requires clarity and consistency. I maintain a predictable structure so you know what to expect from the outset.
The Initial Consultation
We begin with a single 50-minute consultation at my East Oxford consulting room. This session provides space to discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your background, and determine if my approach aligns with your needs. There is no obligation to commit to ongoing work at this stage.
Session Structure
If we decide to work together, sessions take place at the same time each week. Having a regular appointment provides essential practical and psychological stability:
Continuity: Weekly sessions keep the focus on underlying patterns rather than spending your time simply reporting on the past week's events.
A Contained Boundary: A dedicated weekly space allows you to process sensitive material safely, without carrying those worries continuously through your daily life.
Fees
Individual Psychotherapy: £83 per 50-minute session
Initial consultations are charged at the standard session rate of £83.
Clinical Background & Accreditation
My practice is built on rigorous academic study, specialist clinical training, and ongoing contribution to the field.
University of Oxford: Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Practice, following four years of rigorous clinical training and research focusing on relational dynamics, unconscious processes, and psychological development.
Tavistock Relationships (London): Two-year specialist postgraduate clinical training in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, working with complex somatic, relational, and sexual presentations.
Academic Teaching: Guest Lecturer at the University of Oxford, teaching psychodynamic theory and clinical practice.
Professional Accreditation: Fully Accredited Registered Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work strictly within the UKCP Ethical Framework to guarantee professional containment, clinical supervision, and absolute confidentiality.
An Inclusive, Affirming Practice
My practice is fully affirming of all relationship structures, sexualities, and gender identities, working with individuals, couples, polycules, and LGBTQIA+ clients.
As part of this commitment, I strive to maintain an actively anti-racist practice—recognizing how systemic oppression, cultural marginalization, and racialized trauma shape our sense of safety, identity, and bodily experience.
